Sesame Street have shared a video of Foo Fighters lynchpin and undisputed Nicest Guy In Rock™, Dave Grohl, singing a life-affirming song with Elmo and Big Bird.

The 50th series of Sesame Street kicks off Stateside this coming Saturday (16th November) almost exactly half-a-century after the very first episode aired on 10th November 1969.

Last September it was confirmed that Dave Grohl will appear on an episode as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, and now we have the first glimpse.

In the newly premiered clip, Dave says: “Hi, it’s nice to come here and be with my friends Big Bird and Elmo. You know, I was just thinking… there’s friends everywhere, even the ones that you don’t know.’

A befuddled Big Bird asks: “How can you have friends that you don’t know?”

“I just mean there are lots of people all across America we could be friends with, but we just haven’t met them yet,” explains Dave.

The three amigos then burst into a joyous, rock-tinged tune called ‘Here We Go Song’ as various iconic backdrops from across the good ole US of A appear on the green screen.

News of Dave Grohl’s guest spot on Sesame Street was leaked when puppeteer Ryan Dillon shared a picture on Instagram with the caption: “Dave Grohl was incredible. Thanks for playing with us! A great way to wrap up this week’s shoot!”

Dave Grohl has famously previously appeared on The Muppets and, four years ago, challenged formidable percussionist Animal to a drum-off.

Meanwhile, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed back in August the band are eyeing up a 2020 release date for their next album.

“From what I've heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he's worked on and I think we'll start, once this tour is over,” Taylor told RockSound. “I think not too soon after that we'll start the process of putting the songs together as a band."

He continued: "It's a long process, we do a lot of demoing and stuff, but I think that we'll have, I'm hoping, I think we'll have a new record by next year. We should.
